Platform Vision

One trusted place for every part of school board service.

SchoolBoardHQ is a professional platform designed specifically for K-12 school board members. It combines a verified peer community, governance tools, trusted resources, and responsible AI into a single experience built around the realities of public board service.
Rather than replacing existing board management systems, SchoolBoardHQ is designed to complement them — helping members prepare, collaborate, learn, and connect more effectively throughout their time in office.

The Vision

Beyond document management.

Today's technology helps boards manage agendas, meetings, and records. SchoolBoardHQ is exploring how technology can also strengthen the people doing the work.
Our vision is to create a platform that supports the full lifecycle of board service — from a candidate preparing for office to an experienced board leader mentoring others across the country.
Four Pillars

One platform. Four interconnected capabilities.

Each pillar reinforces the others — better-connected members make better-informed decisions, backed by trusted resources and responsible technology.

These capabilities represent our long-term vision. Features shown are planned and will be refined through ongoing research and member feedback.

Designed Around Public Service

Built for the responsibilities that come with elected office.

  • 
    Verified Members
Identity verification helps build a trusted peer community where members know who they are connecting with.
  • 
    Privacy Controls
Members decide what information is visible and with whom it is shared — both within the platform and publicly.
  • 
    Nonpartisan
SchoolBoardHQ is designed to support governance regardless of political affiliation or policy positions.
  • 
    Transparency
We communicate what the platform does, how information is used, and — as AI features roll out — where AI-generated content comes from.
  • 
    Accessibility
Designed to work across devices and to meet modern web accessibility standards so every board member can participate.
  • 
    Security
Protecting member information is foundational to building the trust that makes a peer community possible.
Trust

SchoolBoardHQ is a private community — here's exactly what that means.

What's public vs. private

A plain-language summary of what verified members, other visitors, and you can each see — verified against how the product actually behaves, not just how it’s described.
  • Profiles
    
    You control it
Your base profile is readable only by you. Other verified members see a privacy-masked view — you choose, per field (phone, email, bio, pronouns, social links), whether it shows to everyone, your district only, or no one.
  • District directory records
    
    Public
Board-member name, role, district, and term dates are publicly viewable — the same kind of information districts and state associations already publish. We never publish a member’s personal contact info without their choice.
  • Contact methods (email, phone)
    
    You control it
Off by default. You choose whether verified members can contact you — nobody, your district only, or everyone. Never shown to signed-out visitors or unverified accounts, regardless of your setting.
  • Feed posts
    
    Verified members only
The Public Newsfeed is curated news links only right now — member posting, comments, and reactions are built but not turned on yet. Once active, posts default to verified-member visibility with a per-post choice.
  • Messages
    
    Participants only
Direct messaging is being rebuilt around a new contact-channels design and isn’t available in the app today. When live, only the people in a conversation can read it.
  • Working groups
    
    Verified members only
A staged, future feature — not reachable in the app today.
How It Fits

Not a replacement. A complement.

Instead of replacing tools you already use, SchoolBoardHQ is intended to connect the gaps between them — creating a dedicated professional space for governance, collaboration, and continuous learning that existing district technology doesn't provide.
